About The Dogs
Monk
Monk is the classic good dog. He was adopted as a tiny puppy in 1999. Back then he was so
small that his primary mode of transport was the side pocket of my backpack. Now he's about
90 lbs and not exactly something to carry around. He looks like a golden retriever mixed breed
(we're guessing the rest is Chow). He's the perfect reason why you go adopt a puppy in trouble
rather than buy one from the puppy mills.
In the garage he's known as the safety expert. He's a bit of a worry wart and any time he thinks
something is dangerous he starts barking. While this is great as a warning system, it's not good
when you're under a car concentrating and the bark makes you bolt upright.
When it comes to music, he refers two-tone era Ska and has been known to cut a rug for Ska punk
(especially the Mighty Mighty Bosstones). His current favorite band is the English Beat.

Melba
Melba is best described as Monk's counterpoint. Being part Husky, Malamute and Wolf she's definitely
got a mind of her own, and thinks this automotive business is only interesting when it includes
rides in the car and the tin of dog biscuits I keep in the garage.
She's not really useful for much short of holding down the concrete. Mind you, she's snuck enough snacks
over the years to provide enough additional mass to keep earthquakes from affecting the garage. Her main
skill out in the garage is keeping you on your toes when it comes to snacks or sandwiches. There is no
workbench too high to thwart her sandwich stealing efforts!
Sadly, Melba has all the musical taste, of, well, a husky. She doesn't seem to like much, but, oddly enough,
responds to Abba, Ah-Ha, and Ace of Base. I'm guessing it's the nordic nature of the bands. (She and the wife
both like Dancing Queen -- ****shudder**** oh, Fernando, save me from the Abba.)

I'll take a moment, on their behalf to remind to you spay or neuter your pet. Bob Barker told me so!
And, if you're looking to find a pet, PLEASE check your local pound, shelters, etc. first. Make yourself and some
poor frightened animal happy!
